Review 09 – Maruti Suzuki Ertiga – The Complete Family Car
Well, this car needs no
introduction. The car made its debut in 2012 and took the sales chart for
Maruti Suzuki at a different level. This is the most popular 7 seater car till
date. And now the second generation looks quite appealing.
The car gets new headlamps
and front grill which makes the car looks bulkier. At the rear end the car get
muscular bumper and big chunky tail lights. As compared to the predecessor, the
new car is bigger in terms of length, width and height. It no longer looks like
the Ola and Uber cab. Having said that, the car is a mini version or look a
like of Toyota Innova Crysta which you can easily make out once you open the
door and step in.
The first
thing that you will notice is the faux wood theme extends across the stepped
design dashboard and the ac vent design which is surely inspired from Innova
Crysta. The car now gets two-tone
interior (beige and darker brown) across the dashboard and the seats are well
cushioned and comfortable for those long journeys. The car now also gets bottle
holder with Ac vent to keep your water and drink cooler. The new Ertiga gets a
flat bottom steering wheel (similar to Swift Dzire) that is wrapped in leather
giving the car a sportier appeal.
The car comes with a large
touch screen which supports Apple car play and Android Auto. I mean, come on,
this could have been better considering the price tag.
Under the hood, the car gets
a new 1.5 liter petrol engines which churns out around 103 bhp. The petrol
variant comes with 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gear box. The diesel
engine is 1.3 DDIS motor making 89 bhp.
Now
coming to the big question “Kitna deti hai”? Fuel economy figures quoted are
amazing. Diesel offers a fuel economy of 25.47 kmpl, the petrol manual gets
19.0 kmpl and the petrol automatic gets around 17 kmpl.
The car is priced at Rs. 7.44
lakh to Rs. 11.00 lakh (ex showroom) considering 4 variant L,V,Z and Z+ along
with different engine and gear box option.
In my view, if you are
looking for a 7 seater car for your family, you should not even look at other
manufactures in this segment as this car has no competition considering brand
value, value for money and Maruti Suzuki’s
sales and service.
