Review 06 - Honda Civic – The Epic is Back
1st generation
of this iconic car was launched in 1972 by the Japanese car manufacturing giants.
However, India got the 8th generation back then in 2006. Boy-o-boy
this car was futuristic and way ahead of its time. As a car enthusiastic, I
could relate it to cars from movies like Night Rider, Back to the Future and of
course Batman.
Honda has skipped one generation
and has introduced the 10th generation in Indian car market. Things
have changed now as this car will not only be competing with Toyota Corolla,
Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra but also with Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and Tata
Harrier.
The car looks fantastic
and appealing from the outside and is spacious from the inside. I personally
liked the “cockpit” design of the interiors
as it gives you the feeling of flying a jet plane. The noticeable change is the
‘All Back Interior’ which gives the car a sportier look as compared to older generation’s
executive look.
The car now comes in 2
engine option. Diesel (1.6 liter|120 bhp) will be available only with manual
gear option and petrol i-VETEC (1.8 liter|141 bhp) will be available only with automatic
gear option.
The car has a huge 430
liter boot space, 17 inch wheels with 215/50 R17 tyres. The ground clearance
has risen by 20 mm (as compared to previous generation) for a total of 171 mm. The car comes with 7-inch infotainment which
supports iOs and Android connectivity which according to me could have been better
as compared to competition from other international players in the same segment
or above.
Let’s not talk about the
fuel economy of this car. If a person can afford to buy a car worth Rs. 17 to
22 lakh (ex showroom) then he can obviously fill up the fuel tank and enjoy the
ride.
For me, it feels like the famous
WWF wrestler Undertaker is back from the Dead!
