Review 08 – Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 – “The Desi Triumph”
RE Interceptor
is a retro and simple motorcycle. The bike comes with twin cylinder 650 cc
engine which produces 47 bhp, new 6 speed gearbox and slip clutch. It has fuel
injection and is oil cooled.
This
bike is inspired by Triumph Bonneville T100. It is an attempt to provide Indian
buyers a cheaper substitute of Triumph Bonneville T100.
In
spite of having 650 cc engine, the bike is pretty slow. It clocks “0 to 100” in
approx 7 sec (slower than KTM duke 390). You can easily hit 160 to 170 kmph on
this motorcycle but remember safety first and there is some one waiting for you
at home.
The
bike comes with spokes wheel which is easily prone to rust as we all know RE
bikes are labeled as “Rust Bucket”.
On the
positive side, you can expect a fuel economy of 21 to 23 kmpl. The engine is
refined which means less vibration as compared to another RE motorcycles. The
ride quality is phenomenal.
The
bike is priced at 2.5 lakh to 2.65 lakh (ex showroom).
For me,
I would rather save a bit more and put my money on Triumph as you fall in love only
once with a machine.
